‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Yule never believe it...brentford’s festive fun has already begun says boss Frank

THOMAS FRANK believes life is so good at Brentford that it feels like Christmas.

And the Bees boss has vowed to enjoy the party spirit over the next five days – whatever happens in the promotion race.

The Londoners made it eight straight wins when they beat Preston 1-0 and have given themselves a great chance of snatching the second automatic promotion slot, especially after West Brom’s surprise defeat at Huddersfield last night.

And ahead of today’s trip to Stoke, buoyant boss Frank (left) said: “I’ll be very disappointed if I see any sad faces in the morning. The sun is shining, it is the middle of July, we’re playing football and fighting for promotion, so life is pretty good.

“I try to remind myself we need to enjoy this. We have top players, staff and directors. It feels like Christmas. In 15-20 years’ time I want everyone to remember how remarkable a place Brentford is.”

West Brom’s defeat at Huddersfield means they are still on 82 points with one game to go while Brentford are on 81 with two left to play.

But Stoke boss Michael O’neill says he’d be more than happy to spike Brentford’s guns today.

The Potters are five points clear of the drop zone and, though not yet mathematically safe, are virtually certain to stay up.

But that won’t lead to any easing up today.

O’neill said: “The way Brentford are going about their business should be worry, not just to us but to all the other teams up there. But we won’t be giving them a guard of honour.”
