AIDAN AIMS A SIX-SHOOTER AT ENABLE..

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

AIDAN O’BRIEN will choose from six entries in his attempt to deny Enable a third King George victory in Ascot on Saturday.

Alarmingly, only two trainers – O’brien and John Gosden – have made entries for the traditional end-of-july showpiece.

Gosden is set to run Enable – now a six-year-old and beaten by Gaiyyath in the Eclipse on her seasonal debut – and Hardwicke winner Fanny Logan.

Meanwhile, Ballydoyle’s star mare Magical, so impressive on her return in the Pretty Polly, is expected to lead O’brien’s challenge in a race in which there will be no three-yearolds.

Closer to home, the O’brien pair Napa Valley and Mythical are joint top-weights for the valuable Boylesports Ulster Derby at Down Royal on Friday night. The trainer also has Delphi and Numen, first and second in the listed Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown last week, in the list of acceptors.

Another notable entry is the Johnny Murtagh-trained Red Kelly, now a whopping 21lb higher than when bolting-up in a recent three-year-old handicap at Leopardstown

Yesterday, favourite-backers hit the target in the three maidens on the flat card in sunny Ballinrobe, hot-pot of the day Monument

Valley (8/15) making all to land the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden for O’brien and Wayne Lordan.

Front-running tactics also paid off for Shane Foley on board Jessica Harrington’s Nan Yehi (13/8) in the Treacys Pharmacies Maiden.

Earlier, in Gowran Park, there were doubles for trainers Gordon Elliott and Gavin Cromwell.

The latter landed both handicap hurdles on the card through favourite Luis Van Zandt and top-weight Flooring Porter, both ridden by stable-jockey Jonathan Moore.

Jamie Codd provided Elliott with his brace in the bumpers as odds-on favourites Mr Jackman and Jimmy Jimmy delivered for Cullentra House.
