Patrol will be worth waiting for

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

THIRD to stable-companion Santiago in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, Dawn Patrol should open his account in today’s Naas finale.

It’s unusual for Aidan O’brien, or any trainer, to run two 107-rated colts in the same maiden.

But that’s exactly what the Master of Ballydoyle is doing today and Dawn Patrol is preferred to stablemate Order Of Australia, which finished fourth in the Curragh classic, a length and a quarter behind the selection, before contesting the French Derby in Chantilly.

Prior to his classic excursion, Dawn Patrol was beaten a half-length by another Ballydoyle colt Tiger Moth in a hot Leopardstown maiden, when Order Of Australia was third.

Dawn Patrol, the mount of Wayne Lordan, is expected to confirm form with Order Of Australia and get off the mark at the fourth attempt

Aidan Fogarty’s classy mare Forever In Dreams, beaten a head by Speak In Colours in the Greenlands (Group 2) last time, sets the standard in the featured, Group 3 Yeomanstown

Stud Ballyogan Stakes, with the Jessica Harrington-trained

Millisle the likely threat.

The consistent Smash Williams, representing Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning, might reverse recent Fairyhouse form behind Speak In Colours with Ballydoyle hope King Of Athens in the seven-furlong Naas Race.

And Dermot Weld’s Shamiyna, hooded for the first time, having raced keenly when favourite and a close sixth to Aunt Bee in a hot Curragh maiden on her second start, is napped to land the Naas Fillies Maiden.

On Ballinrobe’s afternoon jumps card, Dawson’s Cottage (trained by Niall ‘Boots’ Madden) and

Aidan Howard’s Birdie

Blitz might complete a handicap hurdle double for owner JP Mcmanus.
