SIX SUBLIME MOMENTS FROM THE MAN CITY MAGICIAN HIS CITY TROPHY HAUL & STATS

- BY ALEX CROOK

FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE GOAL Oct 17, 2010: Blackpool 2 Man City 3 After receiving a short free-kick in the 90th minute, Silva jinked his way past two befuddled opponents (below) before curling a sublime shot into the net for his first Premier League goal and a taste of what was to come. EXQUISITE ASSIST Oct 23, 2011: Man United 1 Man City 6 Silva’s pass to Edin Dzeko, for the last goal in City’s rout at Old Trafford (both celebrating, right), is one of the top Premier League assists. Silva played a volleyed pass into Dzeko’s path with total nonchalance and precision. QUICK-THINKING AND CLINICAL FINISH Nov 5, 2011: QPR 2 Man City 3 Silva’s first touch, from Dzeko’s pass took out two QPR defenders and made enough space for him to drill an emphatic low finish inside the near post. The goal owed everything to Silva’s quick brain and clever first touch. THE 25-YARD CURLER March 15, 2014: Hull 0 Man City 2 As City chased their second Premier League title, they faced a tricky trip to Hull, made all the more difficult by Vincent Kompany’s early dismissal. Moments later, Silva set them on their way to a 2-0 win with a majestic 25-yard left-footed shot. SOLO EFFORT Oct 25, 2014: West Ham 2 Man City 1 Picking up the ball on the right, Silva slalomed his way past three West Ham players and into the penalty area, where he dispatched a trademark left-footed finish, sweeping the ball into the far corner. SUMPTUOUS FREE-KICK Aug 19, 2018: Man City 6 Huddersfield 1 Picking a best free-kick from Silva is tough, simply because there are so many, but this one for City, on his 250th appearance, was special. From 25 yards out, he curled it into the top corner (below), leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

RALPH HASENHUTTL does not fear Southampton star Danny Ings being poached by one of the Premier League’s big guns, claiming: “He’s one of our own.”

Ings has enjoyed a stunning season since joining the Saints from Liverpool last summer in an £18million deal.

The Hampshire-born striker, 28, goes into tomorrow’s final-day showdown with Sheffield United still in with an outside chance of winning the Golden Boot if he can add to his 21-goal haul.

Asked if he feared losing his striker this summer, Saints boss Hasenhuttl (above, with Ings) said:

“You must ask the big clubs. I don’t know and I don’t want to put him in any windows.

“He is our player and I think he feels very comfortable here. He really likes to play in this team.

“He is a little bit like me, he just worked for a big club and knows how it is there and how it is here. I think he enjoys working with us, playing with us and being one of our own!”
