Suspect dies after council man is shot
A PARISH councillor is in hospital after being shot by a man who crashed his motorbike and died while fleeing armed police.
Locals named the victim as James Nash, 42 – a selfemployed artist who writes children’s books.
Police said he suffered “serious head injuries”.
Officers rushed to the village of Upper Enham in Hampshire on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old suspect is believed to have fled on foot before getting on his bike, which crashed three miles away on the A343.
Police said a 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and that the biker was known to Mr Nash.
One local described Mr Nash – whose wife Sarah is a top space scientist – as “a lovely guy who would do anything for anyone”.
