Bonnie £20k for old Prince Charlie cane

A WALKING cane thought to have belonged to Bonnie Prince Charlie is tipped to fetch up to £20,000.

Charles Edward Stuart is believed to have given the cane as a gift to a noble family in France, where he fled from Scotland in 1746.

In 1909 the family gave it to Alfred William Cox, from a long line of Scottish jute merchants, and it was exhibited at the Cambridge Guildhall in 1911.

Mr Cox’s descendant­s are selling the cane, which has a gold inlaid pommel and a British crown above the initials CE.

Auctioneer­s Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh, selling it on August 12, said: “When it was exhibited, it was recorded as having been ‘used by Prince Charles when he was at the French court’.”

DJ Chris Moyles says his gruelling battle with yo-yoing weight is made worse by a disorder which leaves him struggling to accept how he looks.

Moyles, 46, became a household name as the Radio 1 Breakfast DJ from 2004 to 2012, when his weight fluctuated in part due to famous drinking sessions.

He is now on Radio X, but even away from the major spotlight still finds it hard to accept his body and appearance which he blames on body dysmorphia.

Despite currently looking trim, he confided: “I’m feeling really fat at the moment. I really have an issue with body dysmorphia but I’ve lost six stone from my worst weight when I was 18st 2lb.”
