GALVIN WILL BE ON THE MONEY

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

WITHDRAWN on the morning of the Galway Plate due to a stonebruise, Galvin will be tough to beat in the Money Back On The Boylesports App Novice Chase on the final day of Killarney’s August Festival. Favourite for the Galway showpiece, on the back of a solid second to the talented Imperial Aura at Cheltenham, the Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old is lightlyraced over fences and should justify odds-on favouritism as he tries to repeat a 2/15 win over course and distance in early July. That victory, when beating stablecompanion Make My Heart Fly by a long way, was used as a Plate prep. Rated 148, Galvin should account for the Willie Mullins-trained La Sorelita, successful on her fencing debut over course and distance on the same day as Galvin’s odds-on romp. The featured €40,000 handicap chase looks ultra-competitive, with four Mcmanus-owned contenders in the field, most notably the long absent Fine Brunello. Robin Des Foret, representing Willie Mullins and Paul Townend – who shared a double here on Thursday – faded late to finish in mid-division behind Early Doors in the Galway Plate but had earlier finished a solid second to Peregrine Run over this course and distance. And he should figure prominently in a tough race. Joseph O’brien and J J Slevin, who struck with chasing debutant Anything Will Do on Thursday, might be on the mark again with four-year-old A Wave Of The Sea on his fencing bow and receiving 11lb from his rivals in the beginners chase.
