NI man in final 4 of global Call of Duty comp
A BELFAST man whose mum once binned his games console is now playing for the biggest professional Call of Duty prize ever.
Dylan Henderson, 21, says he is “buzzing” to be in the final four of the game’s World League with his team London Royal Ravens this weekend.
And if they defeat Chicago Huntsmen, the Belvoir man will be taking home a share of a cool $1.5million (£1.1million).
He told the Mirror: “I am buzzing. It’s going to be good.
“This is the biggest prize for Call of Duty in history.
“We weren’t even expected to make top four. We started in losers because of the first round and then we ended up winning three straight. Now the tournament is down to the last four teams in a final weekend.”
After just a few years playing the game at top level, Dylan says he really is living the dream.
A normal day for him entails getting up at noon, having a shower and eating before team practice between 2pm and around 7pm.
Then after dinner, he says he usually goes back to gaming to fine tune his skills.
He explained “Moving to America helps. Last year was my first year because that is where all this is based. I lived in Vegas.”
Now he lives in a group of seven lads in an apartment block in Charlotte, North
Carolina, where they while away the day gaming. Dylan says he can play “anything up to 10 to 15 hours a day” when his individual practice is also factored in.
Before Call of Duty, he was “just your average boy playing football”, then he found the game and “it was just COD, COD, COD instead of football, football, football”.
And he has never looked back.
The former Newtownbreda student added: “I really think we can do it.” The other two teams in
the
final four are Atlanta Faze and Dallas Empire.
