Prince Harry tells walkers to ‘dig deep’
THE Duke of Sussex sent a good luck message to fundraisers taking on a 100km walking challenge.
Prince Harry said in a video to trekkers in the Trailwalker Relay event: “Doing this relay virtually is going to make it even more dif ficult than it already was so you’re going to need to dig deep, physically and emotionally.
“With every step you take... you’re helping those who need it most.
“Thank you for stepping up for the Gurkhas, for Nepal and for al l th e communities impacted by this pandemic.”
The mass walk, which is now virtual due to Covid, runs from yesterday until September 27 and is in support of The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam.
THE Duchess of Sussex has denied claims made in the High Court that she and Harry co-operated with a book about their split from royal life.
The claims emerged during a hearing yesterday as Meghan Markle, 39, sues Associated Newspapers over the publication in the Mail on Sunday and Mailonline of a “private and confidential” letter she sent to her father Thomas Markle in August 2018.
The publisher is seeking to amend its written defence to
Meghan’s claim so they can argue that the book Finding Freedom by Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie was published “with the couple’s extensive co-operation”.
Antony White QC, for Associated Newspapers, said: “The book sets out the claimant’s feelings on personal matters, relationships a n d e v e n t s , a n d a tt r i b u t e s multiple quotes to her.”
Mr White said that if the authors or their sources invented the information “it is inevitable that the claimant would have complained to and most likely issued legal proceedings”.
But Meghan’s lawyers argued references to her letter to Mr Markle in the book were “extracts from the letter lifted from the defendant’s articles”.
Justin Rushbrooke QC said: “The claimant and her husband did not collaborate with the authors on the book.”
And author Mr Scobie, insists any suggestion The Sussexes collaborated on it is “false”.
