JAMAL AIMS TO KEEP IT CLEAN

- BY DARREN FULLERTON

NEWCASTLE United new boy Jamal Lewis has warned only an error-free display will tee up a famous win in Sarajevo.

Northern Ireland are outsiders to cause a shock in front of a restricted crowd of 2,000 fans at Stadion Grbavica.

And Lewis, who joined Newcastle from Norwich City last month, knows Ian Baraclough’s men will have to be spotless at both ends of the pitch.

“We’re going in with a lot of confidence but knowing that we have to be clinical in both boxes es to get the result we want,” nt,” Lewis (above) said.

“We want to put our stamp on the game because we’re a team that’s best on the front foot,

with everyone reading off the same page – when we’re pressing teams, suffocating them, being the aggressors – that’s the message we’re getting from the manager.”

Lewis believes Northern Ireland are due a big result after losing home and away to the Bosnians in the Nations League two years ago.

A host of chances were created in a 2-1 defeat at Windsor Park while a Lewis slip let in Edin

Dzeko for the first of the Roma striker’s two goals in a 2-0 win at tonight’s venue.

Gavin Whyte and George Saville also rattled the woodwork on a night of frustration for former boss Michael O’neill.

Lewis said: “I slipped for one of the goals (below) in the away game and in the home game I’ve not been part of many games where I’ve dominated a team that much.

“They obviously have some quality with Miralem Pjanic and Dzeko but overall we back ourselves to beat them, especially if we bring the intensity we kno know we can.

““They’re a good team but there’s no reason why we can’t go toe-to-toe. It is the only game of my international career so far that will have a knockout factor so I’m really looking forward to it.”
