Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, United and Liverpool supporters’ trusts banded together to put out a jointly-signed statement calling for the secret plan to be scrapped immediately. It read: “It is important we state very clearly we do not support the proposals in their current form.

“We are totally opposed to concentrating power in the hands of six billionaire owners and departing from the one club, one vote, and collective ethos of the Premier League.

“This part of the proposal must be dropped immediately if other elements are to be given serious consideration.”

That will embarrass United and Liverpool, who drove the talks with EFL chairman Parry, , while the other four clubs took part in the secret talks.

“Tensions have never been so high and everyone wants to know exactly who has been involved and to what extent,” said one Premier League chief executive.

The Premier League are said to be furious with the EFL, relations are at an all-time low, and chances are fading of a bailout agreement to help League One and Two clubs.
