BEES CALL OFF STINGS CHALLINOR

- BY JON WEST

DAVE CHALLINOR pointed the finger at Barnet for failing to give Hartlepool enough warning that their National League clash was in jeopardy.

The Bees pulled the plug on the fixture after a player tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday evening.

But Pools had already made the journey south and paid for food and accommodation.

Boss Challinor (above) said: “The trip would have cost the club around £5,000 and for us not to be informed that Barnet had any concern is massively frustrating.”

The Bees revealed four players were affected by two separate incidents. One was already selfisolating after a family member tested positive.

Two others are now doing the same after being in contact with the player who has the virus.

Barnet said: “It was considered reckless to allow the match to go ahead knowing it could pose a serious risk to both Barnet and Hartlepool players and staff.”

Stockport are top after Alex Reid’s late goal secured a 2-1 win at Chesterfield. County went ahead through Mark Kitching but Jordan Cropper equalised.

Torquay are level on points with Stockport, Kyle Cameron scoring both goal in a 2-0 win against Dover.

Dean Keates laid into his players after Wrexham went down 4-3 at Wealdstone United - the home side’s first win at this level in 33 years.

Boss Keates said: “It has to improve. It’s not been good enough to represent this football club. There’s been harsh words said.”

Wealdstone’s Charlie Wakefield opened the scoring, but Wrexham were 2-1 up through a Jerome Okimo own goal and an Adi Yussuf strike. Jacob Mendy levelled level and Alex Dyer and Micee Efete made it 4-2 before Yussuf’s second goal in the last minute.
