Too bad you won’t get to see the legend (me) in the flesh!

EVERGREEN SWEDE CAN’T WAIT TO PUT THE BOOT INTO ARMCHAIR HOOPS SUPPORT

- BY DAVID MCCARTHY

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC last night warned he’s coming to Glasgow to heap more misery on Celtic.

And in true Zlatan fashion, AC Milan’s Swedish superstar expressed his disappointment there will be no supporters at Parkhead – because Hoops fans deserve to see him play in the flesh.

The striker marked his return from Covid-quarantine with both goals at the weekend to beat city rivals Inter and has now trained his sights on a Celtic side still reeling from their Old Firm battering. Ibrahimovic, still Mi l a n’s ma i n threat at the age of 39, shows no sign of slowing down. Winning the Europa League would mean automatic qualification for the current Italian league leaders, who come to Parkhead having won all four of their Serie A games this term and Ibrahimo v i c insists he means business. He said: “Age is not even something I am thinking about – the game a gainst Int er shows age is no problem for me.

“I am just becoming more complete and more ruthless. These big games are the ones that I am always excited to play i n . Even with no fans the game against Celtic is a big one and we want to get off to a winning start in Europe.

“Quarantine was the right thing to do but it was not an easy thing. I have come out of quarantine with more desire and I am ready to do special things.

“Milan have a big history in Europe and the ambition is next year that we will be playing in the Champions League. For now it is important that we give everything in the Europa League and I always want another medal for my collection.”

The former Ajax, Barcelona and Manchester United striker admits he is gutted he won’t be playing in front of 60,000 at a pulsating Parkhead this week – but with a typical high sense of his own worth, he reckons the Celtic support will be equally disappointed at not being able to see HIM in action.

He added: “Celtic is one of the great atmospheres and great stadiums. Zlatan deser ves to play in front of th e C eltic fans and the

Celtic fans deserve to be able to see Zlatan play live.

“I have played i n a full Celtic stadium before and I wanted to experience it again.

“With the way the world is that is not going to be possible – but maybe I will get another chance.”
