TOUGH, BUT PUT A HEND TO MOANING

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

LIVERPOOL face four huge games in the next 12 days as the demands of a shortened season begin to bite.

But Kop skipper Jordan Henderson says he would not have it any other way.

And he warned any Liverpool stars feeling sorry for themselves to remember how they felt during lockdown.

“We do have a tough period coming up, yeah, but we want to play these games,” he said. “If you look back a few months, we were sitting in the house during lockdown and couldn’t go out...we’d have played football every day if we could.”

The Reds face a Champions League game against Midtjylland at Anfield tomorrow before welcoming West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday. Next week they visit Atalanta in the Champions

League and then round it all off with a titanic clash at Manchester City that will have a huge impact on the title race.

But instead of moaning about a daunting schedule, Henderson (above, with Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder) said he and his Anfield teammates have a duty to offer a diversion to fans who are still suffering from the damage of the coronavirus crisis.

“There are a lot of things going on in the world and it’s tough for people sitting at home,” he said. “So we really have to try to put smiles on faces.

“Yes it is physically demanding but we are used to it. And we enjoy it. We will use all the lads in the squad, everybody is needed for the season.

“But you have to enjoy it. I love playing football, we love it and enjoy it.”
