AL CALLS FOR SOME HOME COMFORTS

- BY LIZ BYRNES ALAN BROWNE (PRESTON)

ALAN BROWNE is hoping that Preston can change their luck on home turf after his quickfire double secured victory at 10-man Huddersfield.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder (above) scored twice in two second-half minutes after Fraizer Campbell had given Huddersfield an early lead on his 200th career league start.

The hosts went down to 10 men when Naby Sarr was given a straight red for pulling down Emil Riis Jakobsen, who was through on goal.

Preston are on 10 points – all secured away from home – ahead of two matches at Deepdale against Millwall and Birmingham on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

But Browne does not read too much into Preston’s form at home, even though they have lost all three league games there so far this season.

He said: “I think it’s just a coincidence. We’ve had some tough games at home and come up against some really good sides.

“There is not much between games in this league and I think we are just waiting for a bit of luck to fall our way at home.”

It was Huddersfield’s first defeat in five games and saw them drop to 14th. And now they face tough trips this week to Birmingham and Millwall, the same pair that Preston play at home this week.

Striker Campbell said: “It’s a learning curve for us.

“We’ve got another game coming up shortly, so we’ve got to forget about it, put it to bed, and move on.”
