Second-time surrogate says she would do it again
A SURROGATE mother who has three children of her own has given birth to triplet girls.
It is the second time Jemma Browne, 30, has acted as a surrogate – and she would be happy to do it again.
She said: “People say, ‘How can you give away your babies?’ It’s nothing like that. I see it as an extreme form of babysitting. It’s not like you’re preparing to bring a baby home. The bonding is with the parents.”
The healthy new arrivals – Ava Grace, Sofia Annie and Lilly Rose – weighed 4lb 1oz, 4lb 1.5oz and 3lb 12.5oz respectively at birth.

Lincs, said of the birth at the town’s Diana Princess of Wales Hospital: “It was crazy. The morning shift had stayed on and the evening shift were there too. It was very exciting because they don’t normally deliver triplets at Grimsby.”
Andrew and Wayne, from Surrey, had been trying to become parents for four years and found Jemma through not-for-profit Surrogacy UK. Andrew, 43, said: “Jemma is fabulous. We’ve become good friends. When we started on the surrogacy journey, one baby would have been enough – but three has given us a ready-made family.”
Adult support worker Jemma became a surrogate for the first time last year, having a girl for another couple who she remains in contact with.
She is now enjoying time with husband Ashley and their kids Summer,
Lola, and Harley, but thinks she will be a surrogate again. She said: “A lot of people ask how much you get for it.
“It has nothing to do with money. The parents cover the costs of pregnancy and any loss of earnings, but that’s it. You get such a high afterwards seeing the family and how it affects the whole family.
“You are creating parents, grandparents and a whole family.”
