Star Nathan still looking for love

CO FERMANAGH

NATHAN Carter has said he is still hoping to find “the one” and said he needs a girlfriend who can trust him with his legion of female fans.

The country star is now living alone in his Co Fermanagh mansion during lockdown and missing life on the road.

He said he hates being on his own and would love to settle down one day but he has yet to find a partner who can handle the female attention that comes with his celebrity status.

During the first lockdown, Nathan’s brother Jake and Jake’s girlfriend Karen Byrne stayed with him.

At the time, the singer was feeling down about not being able to tour but Jake and Karen got him of f the couch and doing PE With Joe every morning.

But now the couple have moved back to Dublin, and Nathan is on his own this time round.

Speaking to the Sunday

Independent, Nathan said he would “love” to get married and have children one day.

He added: “I’ve bought a house that would fit about ten kids in it.

“The relationship side of things just hasn’t worked out with anyone that I have been with.

“In previous [relationships] it would have been pretty terrible because I was never here, which was the main problem, because I was constantly gigging and on tour all the time.”

But the star insisted he wasn’t afraid of commitment – but in his line of work, he needed someone he could trust.

He added: “My parents have been married 32 years.

“I’m not afraid of commitment. I guess I haven’t met the right one yet that I am going to say, ‘I’m going to spend the rest of my life with you’.

“The problem with being in the

music industry is that the person you meet has to be so trusting of you – jealousy always comes into it, no matter who you are.

“They see other women at the front of the stage, who are hanging off you at the end of the night looking for pictures.

“It is natural for anybody to get jealous of their partner.

“So they would have to be very trusting. I’ve seen it within my own band, lads who are married.

“They would never be cheating or nothing, but just the wrong picture or the wrong time with someone’s arm around you and it ends up into a big row.”

Nathan, who used to perform over 200 shows a year, misses “the drug of being on stage”.

He says he stopped working for several months but eventually got back to work.

The singer has just come out with a new album entitled Nathan Carter - Anniversary Collection (The Best of the First Ten Years). Referring to the title, Nathan said: “It should be called 2020: The F**k Up. Let’s All Forget 2020.”
