ARMED FOR A DEADLY ENEMY

-

sanitising spray with a pleasant smell. Very quickly I learned it didn’t exist. I started developing products in January, sourcing devices from reputable factories, and approached a number of UK manufacturers enabling us to create our own unique formulas.

Over the kitchen table, my family helped me work out what was needed. Youngest daughter Lani named the device HANDIBAC.

Eldest daughter Mia spotted that alcohol was not great for phone screens, so this led us to specify aloe vera and vitamin E in the ingredients to make the alcohol softer on the hands and less harmful to screens.

Did you know there are 18 times more germs on your phone than a public toilet?

My wife Della said: “With a simple spritz and swipe, you wipe your phone screen clean of germs” – and spritz and swipe has become key to our message.

So what was born was the neat pocket spray that can sanitise your hands and surfaces and kill the germs on your phone, making it the only three-in-one pocket sanitiser in the world.

Now it is being used by the 2020 cast of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice to help keep them germ-free during training.

By April, I’d devised methods I thought would work for airports, football stadiums and concert arenas. In May, I approached aviation experts who sent a white paper document based on my ideas to all major airports across the globe.

Since then, we have developed face coverings, a walk-through sanitising device, gloves, a device for sanitising large areas, a vending machine and even a wipe for your glasses to stop them steaming up when wearing a face covering.

My ethos is whatever Manchester airport is doing, Miami needs to be doing the same – the same with concert venues to sport stadiums.

I’ll never lose my love for creating watches, but until Covid has been mastered, the HANDIGROUP will be my top priority, for all our sakes.
