Meghan ‘got top royals to help over dad’
Advice led to Duchess writing letter
THE Duchess of Sussex sought the advice of two senior members of the Royal Family on how to deal with her father, it can be revealed.
Royal sources have speculated the two individuals she spoke to could have been her husband Prince Harry and his father Prince Charles.
The advice prompted her to write the letter at the centre of a legal battle with Associated Newspapers, the owner of Mailonline.
She claims parts of the letter she sent her father Thomas being published breached her privacy.
In documents lodged with the High Court, Meghan accepted she shared a draft of her “personal” letter with her husband and Kensington Palace’s then communications secretary Jason Knauf.
Meghan, 39, also admitted yesterday that she gave personal information to the authors of a favourable tell-all book via a third party. The Duchess insists she never spoke to authors Omid Scobie or Carolyn Durand about the book Finding Freedom but suggests she does not know if anyone else in the palace did.
Legal papers submitted by her team revealed she was so concerned by “her father’s narrative” that she cut him off and refused to speak to him after he failed to attend her wedding.
She decided to pass on information to a third party, so “the true position… could be communicated to the authors to prevent any further misrepresentation”.
The admission could have repercussions in the case as ANL’S lawyers claim Meghan breached her own privacy because she “permitted” details about her life to be shared.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex has said that his time i n the militar y “changed my life for the better” as he spoke to an event helping US veterans.
