Look I know it’s easy to have a go at the Government wasting our hard-earned money on rogue PPE companies, but spare a thought for the people of impoverished Turkmenistan.

Their President, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, this week unveiled a 19ft solid gold statue of his favourite dog in the capital city, Ashgabat.

I mean it puts our government’s handling of the Track and Trace app into perspective. Yes they may be incompetent, but we should think ourselves lucky. We e could could’ve ve ended up with a gold statue of Boris Johnson’s Jack Russell cross in the middle of Trafalgar Square.

Actually, it would d probably cost about ut the same amount of money.
