GAA’S A GREAT OUTLET TO LET OFF SOME STEAM

- BY PAUL KEANE

PERFORMANCE psychology coach Tony Og Regan reckons the Championship is a “welcome distraction” for most county players.

But the former Galway star (left) is concerned about the huge amount of young people with no such outlet.

Regan has set up a webinar series, beginning on Monday, which will help people to look at their lives, to ‘defeat the enemy within’.

The former Tipp and Limerick performance psychology coach said: “How we think influences how we behave. If we have certain thoughts that are unhelpful it’s about reframing those and making our lives more fulfilling and meaningful.”

A quarter of county players polled by the GPA last month said they didn’t want the Championships to go ahead. But the competitions have run relatively smoothly so far.

Regan said: “I’d say the majority are happy to be playing. It’s been a welcome distraction for everyone involved. It definitely shortens the winter for players and supporters.”
