DEAN SMITH reckons Ollie Watkins owes him one after the Aston Villa striker’s fishy murder mystery.

Fins ain’t what they used to be for Watkins following his sensational start to life in the Premier League

Watkins is enjoying all the trappings of a top striker after his £28million move to Aston Villa.

But Villa boss Smith reckons it’s still payback time, despite Watkins kins netting eight goals s in 10 games since his s summer switch from Brentford.

Smith (right) bought Watkins a surprise moving-in n present when he signed him for Brentford – a tropical fish tank. But it was a pastime that failed to hook his young striker.

Smith said: “I used to visit the players I signed at Brentford, pretty much to have a spy on how they were living without them knowing. So I used to take them a little present.

“I took Ollie a fish tank but he didn’t keep the fish too well and they didn’t last very long. I don’t think he fed them often enough. I think he should be buying me something now. I’ve done my bit for him.”

Today’s visitors Brighton would do well to keep tabs on Watkins (above), who goes into the game on the back of two goals against Arsenal and a hat-trick against Liverpool.

Smith says his young charge just loves scoring, adding: “Knowing Ollie he won’t care who he scores against, and I’m the same.

“You want your No.9 to score goals and he’s done that. He’s got a hunger to score, which is what I love about him him.

“What you see on a match day is w what you see on the training ground. I had no doubts he could st step up on the bac back of 25 goals in the Championship.”

Watkins, 24, has given Villa a cutting edge, but Smith has also got quality guys supplying the ammo.

Jack Grealish has become an England sensation and looks a cert to go to the Euros along with John Mcginn, who helped Scotland qualify.

And there’s another Villa player who wants to join them – England midfielder Ross Barkley, who is on loan from Chelsea.

Smith said: “Ross knows he’s got four months of hard work to show he should be in the squad.”
