FRANK LAMPARD has admitted that lockdown actually suits him – because it means he can concentrate his energies on the task of managing Chelsea.

Th e Blu es boss re vealed earlier this week how miserable he gets after his team loses.

But Lampard, whose side take on Newcastle at St James’ Park at lunchtime today, now finds there are fewer distractions from his job – and his family.

Lampard (with wife Christine, above) admitted he too feels the pain as lockdown hits people hard, leading to job losses and businesses going bust. He said: “I don’t want to be light-hearted. I know it has caused problems for people, whether it is business or in their home life.

“But for me, it’s simplified life – I’m focused on my job and decent family time. It’s very simple. When I am here at the training ground, I work. I focus on that work.

“I ’m not too concerned if people don’t come round my house. I like my own space.

“It ’s a great excuse that nobody comes round. Dinner BY A SMILE

Frank Lampard enjoys a few laughs with his players parties are not my thing. I joke , because it is nice to socialise, and we

want life to get back to normal.

“I walked the dog and saw shop after shop closed, cafes that would be thriving that aren’t. It makes me feel sad for people that have jobs and things aren’t functioning as normal.

“It doesn’t sit well. I won’t say I’m used to this n e w n o r ma l . I want lockdown to go and the world to go back to normal, but now I am very focused on my job – and on having quality time with my children.”

Lampard also insisted that eight-goal key-striker Timo Werner will not have been affected by Germany’s shock 6-0 Nations League thrashing by Spain on Tuesday.

He added: “He was part of a

performance that was really negative. I watched most of it. “I ’ve been part of that in my career. He shouldn’t need much picking up, because he is coming back to a place where the team is in very good form.

“We’ve seen lots of moments of what we have brought Timo in for – his goalscoring prowess, explosive speed and goal threat. “It was something we were lacking last year. I’ve got absolute faith in Timo. He is a fantastic player and has had a really good start to his time here.”
