ALMIRON’S OUT OF LUK

- BY SIMON BIRD

STEVE BRUCE has scoffed at Miguel Almiron’s hopes of replacing

Romelu Lukaku or Luis Suarez.

The Newcastle boss “chuckled” at claims his Paraguay winger could end up joining Inter Milan, where Lukaku plays, or linking up with Suarez at Atletico Madrid.

Instead, he wants

Almiron to create and score more and branded agent Daniel

Campos “Mickey Mouse” for claiming Almiron wants to leave.

Campos claimed Inter and Atletico had scouted the £20million winger, who joined Toon after winning the MLS championship with

Atlanta. Bruce (with Almiron, below) said: “I had a chuckle at the comments. What was it – Inter and Atletico Madrid? They are going to ditch Suarez and Lukaku, are they? He has played 53 times (including as a sub) in the Premier League.

“The majority of last year I played him off the front in a No.10. He found it difficult to score and create the goals. So let’s not fluff it up to be better than it is. He’s a very good player and its disrespectful when an agent, a Mickey Mouse one, behaves like this. We could do with him scoring and creating more. That’s the hard part in the Premier League.”
