Fight fans at Conor’s comeback

FANS will be present at Conor Mcgregor’s UFC bout with Dustin Poirier this month, it was confirmed yesterday.

The Notorious faces the American at UFC 257 in the early hours of January 24, with the bout taking place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

A limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend the bout, with tickets ranging in price from €177 to €1,100.

H. E Ali Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi said: “Following the reopening of our emirate to internatio­nal tourism, we are delighted to welcome fans to Etihad Arena,.

“Abu Dhabi’s collaborat­ive and coordinate­d response in

tackling the spread of the coronaviru­s has inspired pioneering health measures to ensure a safe and secure environmen­t.”

The bout will be Mcgregor’s first since his 40-second demolition of Donald Cerrone 12 months ago in Las Vegas.

Mcgregor has been described as being in the best shape of his life ahead of the upcoming bout, which Dana White confirmed the winner of will get a shot at becoming lightweigh­t champion.

Mcgregor defeated Poirier in a featherwei­ght bout in 2014, but the American has enjoyed plenty of success at lightweigh­t since.

‘The Diamond’ boasts recent wins over Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez and Max Holloway, with his sole loss in the last four years coming against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomed­ov.
