‘Jose has prize Guy at Spurs’

- BY JOHN CROSS

TANGUY NDOMBELE can become an “elite player” at Tottenham and one of the biggest stars in the Premier League.

That is the message from Spurs star Joe Rodon who said midfielder Ndombele’s (above) wonder goal in Sunday’s 3-1 win at

Sheffield United was not a surprise to his team-mates.

Rodon said: “He’s a top player and the goal doesn’t surprise me because he does spectacular things in training all the time. I’m delighted for him.

“I think the club bought him for a reason. He’s only going to get better, the more games he plays.

“Hopefully, he becomes what we all think he can be – an elite player.”

Wales defender Rodon had his own difficult start at Tottenham because the former Swansea star (right) arrived in October after the Europa League deadline and was also cup tied for the Carabao Cup.

But Rodon is feeding off the “winning mentality” which manager Jose Mourinho has instilled at the club, and which big players like Harry Kane and his Wales team-mate

Gareth Bale are trying to spread across the dressing room.

Rodon added: “It was a bit frustrating not being eligible in the Europa League and League Cup, but I knew it was going to be like that.

“I’ve just got to keep working hard every day, trying to show the coaching staff that I can be involved in the team more often.

“We all want to give our best and do the job for the team. It starts with the gaffer trying to bring a winning mentality to us all.

“Gareth coming into the dressing room is going to give us much more in experiences and Harry is going to win plenty of things.

“You bring that together, and we all want to be winners here.”
