JAMIE Dornan has told how he doesn’t have “a lot of confidence” as he reflected on his days as a struggling actor in LA with roommate Eddie Redmayne.

Despite playing some of the most confident characters on the screen, the Fifty Shades star said he is a lot more insecure in himself in real life. And he revealed that was part of the reason he wanted to ditch the sexy roles to play an insecure character opposite Emily Blunt in Irish-based movie Wild Mountain Thyme. Jamie said: “I don’t have a lot of confidence, you know. And we all have huge insecurities as actors, for the most part.

“Any actor I like is insecure in person and is harsh on themselves and is terrified on day one and actually still kind of a bit terrified on the final day.

“I feel like with Anthony [his character in Wild Mountain Thyme], I’m able to express all of my insecurities and all of

PAL my awkwardness and all of my weirdness that I have as Jamie.”

In a conversation with his actor friend Eddie for US publication Variety’s Actors On Actors series, the Co Down star said home is where his heart is, and admitted he collapsed into tears on his last day on set filming the movie in Ireland, describing it as an “incredible experience” like no other.

Jamie, 38, said: “I’ve never done a job where I was so physically bereft when I finished it.

“It’s one of those jobs, we’re in the west of Ireland, an all-irish crew, everyone’s having a good time. “Everyone’s just really easy, there’s no one bringing any sort of drama.”
