Kindness shown to our girl has humbled us all

Parents grateful for treatment donations

THE parents of a little girl whose seizures are so violent they break her bones have thanked the hundreds of people who have donated to a fund for her.

Macy Brady, 10, from Belfast, is looked after by her dad Gerard and mum Grainne who have been searching for additional medical advice and help to improve her quality of life.

She is currently nursing a broken back and two broken legs and facing the possibility of more seizures which have been appearing every two to three weeks. But thanks to donations from the public, the Bradys have been able to order a red light device which may help their middle child by boosting the health and growth of her cells.

Gerard had hoped the family might be offered modest donations to add to their fundraising efforts for Macy but in under 24 hours of hearing about their plight, more than £12,000 was raised.

He said: “There were a number of times when I was reading the messages I just had to get up and leave the room to compose myself.

“The kindness people have shown has been unreal and the generosity is very humbling. The amount of money donated for Macy has really shocked us.

“We knew we had to find money to help pay for the red light device which is intended to improve cell health in her body to try to make her stronger but we never dared imagine it could actually be achieved.

But thanks to all the help, today the device has been ordered and is on its way to Belfast for Macy.

“Grainne and I just want to thank everyone who has sent us their love and support, to everyone who has donated money to Macy’s fund. “Macy, like every little girl, deserves the best and thanks to donations we hope we can get some additional help that’s not available on the NHS.”
