HART: SPURS MUST GRAFT

- BY JOHN CROSS

JOE HART has warned talk is cheap and Tottenham must be ready to put in the “hard graft” to win trophies.

The former England keeper was a serial winner at Manchester City where he lifted two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the League Cup twice.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho brought in Hart last summer not just to be Hugo Lloris’s No.2 but also for his winning mentality to help the club’s 13-year wait for silverware.

They are still in the title race, in the Carabao Cup final, the fifth round of the FA Cup and knockout stage of the Europa League and there is no doubt in Hart’s mind that this Spurs squad can be successful.

But Hart (right) also has a warning for his Spurs team-mates about that so-called winning mentality and all the usual talk around trophies and success.

Hart said: “A lot of things are easily said about winning trophies. Win one and you win more. Putting the right squad together. They’re just easy things to say. But we’re in it, we’re in the trenches, we’re working hard and we’re in a cup final already.

“We’re doing the hard graft, that’s what really counts, more than talking about it and that’s what should get us the success.

“We are in a good position in the league and in all three cups so we’ll keep pushing.”

Hart is one of the senior pros along with Gareth Bale who is showing glimpses of his world class talent.

Hart believes the Wales star’s track record is a great example to Harry Kane and the rest of the team.

Hart said: “We always knew it was going to be a project with him and he understands.

“He’s here to help the team win and he’s demonstrated that.

“It’s important to have guys that have been there and won and can reference what it takes.”
