Moore is the Kieffer Cardiff

STRIKER HAS POWER TO GET TO PREM

- BY JAMES CANDY

JOE RALLS reckons Kieffer Moore has the firepower to lead Cardiff up the Championship table.

The Wales striker bailed the Bluebirds out of trouble for the second time in a week with a second-half equaliser.

Cardiff are still floundering in 15th despite Mick Mccarthy steadying the ship, but midfielder Ralls believes Moore will provide the goals for a charge towards the play-offs. He said: “It’s great to see our attacking players in among the goals, and it will do Kieffer a world of good after having a bit of time off with his injury. It’s always encouraging seeing our forwards looking lively when they’re introduced and it’s good for us as a team going forward.

“Everybody needed a bit of a confidence boost and a new manager coming in seems to have done that, so hopefully that will only help some more as we carry on.”

A defensive horror show had the Bluebirds on the back foot after nine minutes.

Sean Morrison headed a long ball forward straight into the path of Jed Wallace, who surged down the left and attempted to play the ball across the face of goal.

Aden Flint got back to cut out the cross, but only succeeded in diverting the ball past Alex Smithies and into his own goal.

Mccarthy finally brought Wales playmaker Harry Wilson into the contest after an hour, and his creative spark got Cardiff ’s attack firing.

He picked out Moore with a perfectly weighted through pass, and the giant striker produced a deft finish to rescue another point after his late header at Barnsley on Wednesday.

Mccarthy is eyeing up late deadline deals for Welsh midfielder Jonny Williams and striker Jordan Rhodes to further boost their attacking options.

But the experienced Cardiff boss believes his current squad has the ability to lead a recovery.

“No manager is going to tell anybody anyway if there is some business going on,” said Mccarthy.

“Actually, there’s not a great deal with us – but if we can do something then we will.

“We’ve got some good players ourselves and we’ll get the best tune we can out of the ones we have.”
