CARLISLE boss Chris Beech admits he was forced to kickstart his side back into action after a 28-day lay-off.

The manager said: “We got out on the pitch on Wednesday and worked them as hard as we possibly could.

“It was only the second time we’d been outside this year.”

Lewis Alessandra’s first-half goal ensured a winning return.

Kyle Knoyle celebrates his wondergoal for Cambridge

BOLTON boss Ian Evatt has told Arthur Gnahoua his days of being a “loose cannon” are over.

The winger set up Eoin Doyle for Wanderers’ second after James Brophy’s own-goal put them ahead.

Evatt said: “People have just let Arthur play and be a loose cannon.

“In this division you need defensive structure, so it’s important that he gives us that.”

BRADFORD caretaker boss Mark Trueman believes a change of role is bringing the best out of Callum Cooke.

Cooke’s strike made it eight games unbeaten for the Bantams after Barrow’s Scott Quigley cancelled out Danny Rowe’s opener.

Trueman said: “We’ve played Cookie higher and it’s improved his game. He got two assists last game and scored today.”

KYLE KNOYLE is planning to make a habit of scoring after his wonder strike.

The full-back’s longrange effort restored Cambridge’s lead after Jake Hessenthaler equalised Joe Ironside’s opener. Wes Hoolahan added the U’s third.

Knoyle said: “I just tried to hit it and maybe I’ll hit a few more in future.

“I want to contribute more going forward.”
