A BELFAST man competing in the

2021 series of BBC TV’S Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr says it “has been the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Paul Moneypenny first turned heads across the city with his upside down Christmas trees back in 2019 and will now be sharing his design genius with viewers across the UK.

The 32-year-old revealed it was a dream come true to win a place on the show and without being too star struck, says the highlights for him were meeting Alan Carr and designing for the

“Anna Wintour of interiors” Michelle Ogundehin.

Paul will go head-tohead with nine others budding designers to compete for a life-changing design contract.

The art college graduate, who now manages Noblett’s on North Street, said: “This has been an opportunity of a lifetime.

“I don’t want to sound too star struck, but meeting Alan Carr was such a highlight.

“Alan always brought laughter and lifted the mood when spirits were low. Also getting to design for head judge Michelle Ogundehin and aiming to impress her with my skills was an honour.

“She was generous with her knowledge and criticism.

“I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have learnt from her. It’s no exaggeration to say that my confidence as a designer has grown thanks to

Michelle.”

He will face different designs briefs each week which will be judged by Michelle Ogundehin, former editor of Elle Décor magazine.

“She’s pretty much the Anna Wintour of interiors in my opinion,” added Paul.

Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr started last night at 8pm on BBC Two.
