A CHAMPION dancer is set to have ball after winning £1million on the National Lottery.

Terri Picton-clark, 69, and husband John, 67, now plan a dream trip to Antarctica.

They have already bought much-needed laptops for their home-schooling grandchildren and friends’ kids.

Terri, from Lutterworth, Leics, is an amateur ballroom and latin dancer who has won seven awards in her career.

The couple bought a lucky dip lottery ticket at a petrol station while on their way to choose a new kitchen.

Terri said: “I was trying to get 0% interest for the kitchen, and the bank was being difficult, and I ended up crying in despair.

“John said to me, ‘You never know, we might win the lottery’, to which I replied with, ‘Oh, you always say that’.

“On Monday I was working on

Zoom when John came in waving the ticket. Once I’d finished the call I found out exactly what was up.

“We thought it was around £50,000, then Camelot confirmed it was £1,000,000.

“The neighbours could see us jumping up and down. They celebrated with us, socially-distanced, from our front gardens. Five bottles [of champagne] later and John didn’t get up until 3pm the next day.

“He gave the shop assistant who sold him the ticket £100, saying to her ‘don’t do anything sensible with it’.”

“John wants to go to Antarctica, that is top of the list.

“We’ve always had pennypinching holidays even our wedding was on a budget.”
