Crusaders 1 Glentoran 0

CRUSADERS got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Glentoran to stay in the thick of the title race at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership.

Jordan Owens (above) won it with his sixth goal of the season in the sixth minute, outmuscling Luke

Mccullough to head a Paul Heatley corner into the bottom corner.

Victory kept the Crues, who had gone four games without a win prior to last night, third in the table, a point behind Larne and four off leaders Linfield.

The Glens, who stay seventh, are now winless in their last nine away games, while their last league win at Seaview was way back in 2011.

Elsewhere, Cliftonville new boy Paul O’neill, who joined the club as part of Conor Mcmenamin’s exit for the Glens, scrambled a late 2-2 draw with Coleraine at the Showgrounds.

Rory Hale put the Reds ahead with a classy lob before Aaron Traynor and James Mclaughlin fired the Bannsiders into a half-time lead.

But with seven minutes left Daire O’connor (inset) delivered a low cross for O’neill to force the ball home from point blank range.

Ian Parkhill rattled the woodwork for Coleraine late on as the Bannmen dropped league points for the first time in seven outings.

Substitute Rhyss Campbell scored a late winner as Dungannon ended Ballymena United’s eight game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win at the Showgrounds. ZLAST night’s postponed game between Warrenpoint Town and Carrick Rangers is rescheduled for tonight, subject to a 3pm pitch inspection.

Ballymena United 0 Dungannon Swifts 1; Coleraine 2 Cliftonville 2; Crusaders 1 Glentoran 0; Glenavon 1 Larne 4; Linfield 3 Portadown 0.
