MOT certs exemption extended
MOT temporary exemption certificates are to be extended for another four months, the Infrastructure Minister said yesterday.
TECS were first issued last May for 12 months after vehicle testing was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The DVA is running at reduced capacity since the introduction of safety measures for staff and customers.
Nichola Mallon said: “In light of these constraints I want to ensure all customers can legally keep their vehicles on the road for their essential journeys.
“For that reason, from March 26, I have instructed my officials to apply a further four-month extension to existing TECS for eligible private cars, light goods vehicles and motorcycles aged four to nine years and to apply a new four-month TEC to those vehicles due a first time test.
“Road safety remains a significant priority.
“I would like to remind owners and drivers of all vehicles that they are responsible under the law
BRUCE Springsteen smelled of drink when arrested for driving under the influence, officials say.
The singer was on a stationary motorbike in the Gateway National Recreation Area, New Jersey, in November when Park Ranger RL Hayes saw him swig a tequila shot.
Hayes says in papers the singer had “glassy eyes”.
The document detailing his arrest goes on: “Springsteen refused... a preliminary breath test.”
It adds he said he planned to ride the bike despite “visibly swaying”.
Springsteen, 71, faces federal charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area.
His advert for car firm Jeep has been shelved.
