There’s no doubt the pandemic has meant an upheaval for many couples’ relationships. Some have spent months apart, others have been thrown together for 24 hours a day. As Valentine’s Day approaches, we speak to couples whose love really has conquered all, even Covid... @Poppydanby ing in hadn’t been

NHS job closer to home, which meant that she could continue her dream career and also work nearby when the lockdown ends.

“And we’ve also decided to buy a house together.

“I bought this house when

I lived on my own and, although it’s a nice house, it’s a little bit on the small side for two of us and a cat.

“Our hope for the future is that we can start going on a few holidays and see more of the world together outside our house.

“After that, who knows, I’m sure Robyn’s mum can’t wait for us to get married.”

On February 6,

1958, a charter plane carrying 44 people crashed after refuelling at Munich Airport. The accident claimed 23 lives, among them eight Manchester United players and three club officials.

This poem by Maureen Knott, 74, in Withernsea, East Riding, is a tribute to those who died. She says: “I wrote this 15 minutes before 3pm on February 6th. It’s a poem I promised to write for my sons, Andy and Paul, who are big Manchester United fans.”

Two of my favourite foodie days of the year are just around the corner – Valentine’s Day, where I get to indulge in some of my favourite luxury foods, and Pancake Day, which the whole family loves getting involved with.

Steak is always a winner for a special Valentine’s Day treat. I like something with lots of flavour, like this onglet. If you haven’t tried this cut before, give it a go tomorrow!

The kids will love making these sweet jam tarts – top them with hearts and give to someone you love. And these pancakes make a perfect pud on Valentine’s Day, or save them for Shrove Tuesday. Or enjoy them twice!
