GRECIAN JOEL ON PATH TO THE TOP

Lingfield lover can make it six course wins since the summer

JOEL RANDALL insists he will not be distracted after becoming the latest Exeter academy product to find himself in demand.

The Grecians winger (above), 21, has been linked with Celtic and Swansea this season.

But he says he is happy to wait before following in the footsteps of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu and Swansea’s Matt Grimes.

Randall – who was due to face Oldham today before the weather intervened – said: “Of course, seeing the Celtic shout was dream stuff really, to see that interest.

“But I’ve got a job to do with Exeter so I can’t let it distract me.

“We know the names of Watkins, Ampadu, Grimes, they’ve all shown what the academy can produce so they’ll put us in that sort of bracket as well.

“In the future hopefully we can match their careers. They know it’s a good academy and we keep producing, so hopefully that can continue.”

Sakhee’s Secret has thrived since racing returned from the first coronavirus lockdown last June.

From 12 outings, Accomplice has scored five times over this afternoon’s course and distance, finishing out of the frame just once.

Having begun the winning spree from a British Horseracing Authority mark of 52 in the summer, the seven-year-old competed from a rating of 71 at the Surrey course a week ago.

And she returned to the winner’s enclosure she knows so well, coming home with a wet sail in the home straight to nail Thrill Seeker by a short head.

There is another 3lb rise in the weights to deal with, but Accomplice rates the value alternative to favourite Crackling.
