AMANDA Holden is taking time off from her radio show this week after coming under fire over her lockdown trip to Cornwall.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge was criticised after travelling from her home in Surrey to visit her mum and stepdad.

The mum of two, who is 50 tomorrow, is taking a planned half-term break from Heart Breakfast.

She was reported to police when she travelled over 200 miles following a “distressing” phone call from stepdad Leslie, 75, who lives in Cornwall with her mum Judith, 71.

A spokesman told the Mirror it was an emergency and that she took Covid rules very seriously.

He said: “Amanda has adhered to Covid rules every step of the way in all three lockdowns.”

THE number of over-50s who were made redundant last year rocketed by 240%, figures show.

Experts found 121,000 people in that age range lost their jobs compared to 35,000 at the start of 2020.

But the study, by Rest Less which gives job advice to over-50s, found 25 to 34-year-olds were hardest hit by redundancies - up 536%. Founder Stuart Lewis said: “Our concern is that there is worse still to come with 640,000 over55s still on furlough.”

Kerry Katona has vowed to elope to Las Vegas for her third wedding, to fiance Ryan Mahoney.

But with travel plans up in the air, the reality star at least has a decent back up plan, thanks to her Celebs on the Farm co-star...

“I was on the phone to Lady C and she went: ‘Kerry, darling, come and get married at my castle.’”

But Kerry is determined to hold out for Vegas.

“I just want the paperwork and a bit of

Elvis singing Love Me Tender. That’s it.

“I don’t want pictures and all that crap,” she adds, bluntly. “Been there, done that – I’m running out of ideas!”

BOURNEMOUTH’S seven miles of sand have helped it clinch the title of best beach in the UK.

The Dorset town saw off tough competition from Cornwall which has three beaches in the top 10: St Ives, Bude and Newquay.

With foreign holidays on hold for the moment, millions of Brits are contemplating staycations

Two-thirds told a WWF-UK poll they had missed visiting the coast during the pandemic.

Yorkshire claims two beaches in the top 10, Whitby and Filey, while Blackpool, Brighton, Bognor Regis and Tenby in Wales complete the list.

WWF-UK’S Sarah Young urged Brits to “protect our beautiful coastlines” by recycling and shunning plastic wrapping.
