I don’t think telling his wife and causing a scene on the doorstep was ever going to make him come back to you. I think all you can do now is learn from this and don’t get involved with men who aren’t available. Affairs rarely end with the cheating couple running off to make a happy future together. And often, once an affair is out in the open, it’s not as thrilling or appealing.

The only advice I can give you is to move on from this man and focus on creating a better future for yourself. I understand you feeling humiliated and heartbroken, and it will take time to feel better, but it’ll happen quicker if you can accept that he’s out of your life. Give yourself the chance to meet someone else who’s free to date you.

Every case that the DIY SOS team go to help is a worthy and deserving one, but the family this week are especially in need.

They’re in Barnstaple, Devon, to help Jan and Lucy and their five children – two of which have a life-limiting condition and have to spend 70 hours a week undergoing dialysis treatment. This means four-hour round-trips to hospital and

the family never all being able to be together. So bring on Nick Knowles and an army of local trades and volunteers to transform their home and help create the space to house two dialysis beds and store the one tonne of medical supplies the girls need every month just to stay alive.

Designer Laurence Llewelyn-bowen is tasked with making all the medical equipment disappear into a comfy and cosy home, where the family can all live happily and more easily together.
