COLLYWOBBLER

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

AS Jose Mourinho continues to gripe at Gareth Bale I’ve one thing to say to Tottenham fans — I told you. There’s always a diversion, always an excuse when Mourinho isn’t so special, and if this summer Spurs don’t lance the growing poisonous boil he has become, they will be unrecognisable from the harmonious days of Mauricio Pochettino.

JOHN EGAN suffered a ‘serious leg injury’ in Sheffield United’s defeat to West Ham last night.

And the Republic of Ireland centre-back is now a major concern for next month’s opening World Cup qualifiers. Egan was hurt in a challenge with on-loan Manchester United man Jesse Lingard and signalled his distress to the bench.

His leg was immediately put in a brace (left) and Blades boss Chris Wilder fears it could be serious.

“It didn’t look too good with the stretcher. He’s a tough Irish boy so for him to stick his hand up wasn’t a good sign,”said Wilder.

“He’s on crutches now and that caps a miserable night for us.”

That made us chuckle a little bit!” And in emphasising the fact that neither of the two rumours held any truth at all, Henderson added swiftly: “Apart from that, I didn’t really give it much thought. That was a rumour, I just enjoyed that rumour, that’s all!” Klopp was the subject of some intense speculation at the weekend, with many Liverpool fans convinced the German had decided to quit after his press conference, following the 3-1 defeat against Leicester.

Huge rumours swept across social media about his reasons for ‘quitting’, but as Henderson’s response illustrated, they were met with disdain from within the club.
