Selfies threat to the gorillas

-

TOURISTS could be exposing “critically endangered” mountain gorillas to Covid-19 by taking selfies with them unmasked.

A study of Instagram posts revealed that most gorilla trek tourists in East Africa got close enough to the animals to pass on viruses and diseases.

Dr Magdalena Svensson, of Oxford Brookes University said: “With people getting more used to wearing face masks we hope it will become common practice in gorilla trekking.”

Doing a grand job of promoting his own area as a great tourist attraction, David Marsden took this photo of the pirate ship pleasure boat in Bridlington harbour in East Yorks last summer.

“I am happily retired in one of the best coastal resorts in England,” he says. “In fact a few weeks ago in the Daily Mirror, it was reported that Bridlington was 16th place in the country to retire to – I couldn’t agree more.

“I now love photography, and whenever the opportunity arises, I’m out with my camera and walking my dog Jack with partner Anne. “From the picturesque harbour to the fine sandy beaches and wonderful Wolds countryside, especially Flamborough Head, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.”
