Keeping up with the Kim & Kanye divorce
Double dose of reality show
KIM Kardashian’s divorce from Kanye West could be documented in not one, but two TV series.
The 20th and last season of reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians follows Kim in the final months of her marriage to the rapper.
Filming ended in January, around the time the first reports of the impending divorce emerged.
Sources say troubled Kanye – who has been in the show since 2012 – is “very unlikely” to feature in any scenes. The series is set to air next month.
After more than a decade with TV network E!, Kim, her sisters and mum Kris Jenner are off to Disney’s Hulu channel, which is likely to screen the family’s new series at the end of the year.
Details of what programmes are included in the family’s £70million deal are yet to be confirmed but while announcing the new partnership, Walt Disney TV chairman Dana Walden noted the appeal of unscripted reality series.
Kim, 40, filed papers on Friday at a court in Los Angeles asking for a divorce from Kanye, 43, after almost seven years of marriage.
She has asked for joint custody of their four children. It is thought the settlement may include a gagging order preventing the pair divulging intimate details of the split.
Sources say the divorce will be amicable. One insider reportedly said: “This will be a fairly straightforward and hopefully quick process.”
The US stars, who signed a prenuptial agreement, are said to be worth £1.6billion combined, with assets including £74m of properties.
An insider said: “They tried to make it work but it just wasn’t to be.
“They have grown apart... It’s very sad, although they have struggled now for several months.”
It comes after a tumultuous year for the pair, during which Kanye – who has bipolar disorder – launched a bid to become US President.
He also appeared distressed several times while discussing a potential divorce from Kim.
Kanye also criticised her family’s behaviour. Kim spoke out in defence of her husband, who she described as “brilliant but complicated”.
The couple, who wed in 2014, spent Christmas apart, with Kanye remaining at his £10m ranch in the state of Wyoming, while Kim’s family celebrated in California.
