MOYES: WE WILL ONLY GET BETTER

-

but we are still improving. There is more to come from this team.

“We are really excited about it, because this time last year we were worried sick we were going to be relegated. We are thrilled.

“A manager’s job is to increase expectation but then manage it. West Ham has always been a club that can win big games but they have not managed consistency. That is what we are aiming to solve.

“I don’t know if there is any expectation now. I have told the players we have done half the job – now let’s do the other half.

“When we came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 at Spurs in October it was us doing the chasing. This time round it was them who had to come back (above, Lucas Moura scoring). But we held out.”

Moyes, whose team have lost only one of their last 11 Premier League games, added: “We had to hang on but thankfully we got over the line.

“It was really important to win this game because we have got a tough run coming up.”

Despite a fifth league defeat in six games, Tottenham boss Mourinho says his coaching methods are second to none.

The Portuguese insisted: “I don’t doubt my methods. Zero. Not at all.

“Sometimes the results are the consequence of multiple situations. Mine and my coaching staff’s methods are second to nobody in the world.”

And Mourinho denied his side were in crisis after their eighth league defeat of the season.

He said: “I don’t know what people mean by crisis.

“If a crisis is frustration and sadness in the dressing room I would say so, because nobody is happy. But when a team fights the way this team did until the last second, it’s never a group crisis.

“Groups are in crisis when they are not together in the search of better results. So I wouldn’t say it’s a crisis. I would say we’re in a really bad run of results.”

James Maddison makes sure we all know who scored

BRENDAN RODGERS reckons in-form Harvey Barnes looks like scoring in every game.

Barnes, 23, set up James Maddison’s opener against Aston Villa, then put Leicester two ahead with his 13th goal of the season.

Boss Rodgers (below) said: “It’s such a delight to see him because when he’s in full flow there aren’t many better.

“He is direct and fast. What you are seeing now is the confidence at the level.

“Harvey had his first full season last season. You have to remember these boys are coming in and don’t have a great deal of Premier

League experience.

“But they are only going to get better. Now you look at him and he’s going to score in virtually every game he plays.

“He’s such a threat and his finishing is actually very good. The goal he scored at Villa, it was a tough finish.

“There’s only one place to go, which is into the roof of the net, and he finishes it off his left side. It’s a joy to watch and he’s very hungry to succeed.”

Maddison went off in the second half with what appeared to be hip trouble, having missed the run-in last term with a similar injury.

“We had take him off as a precaution,” said

Rodgers.
