Kim ‘offered’ ride home on Air Force One

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

DONALD Trump offered despot Kim Jong-un a lift home on Air Force One after their nuclear summit in 2019 broke down.

They had failed to agree on what the North Korean leader would give up in return for sanctions relief.

But the then US president apparently remained on cordial terms with Kim at the talks in Vietnam.

Matthew Pottinger, a US Asia expert told BBC series Trump Takes On the World: “The president knew Kim had arrived on a multi-day train ride and said: ‘I can get you home in two hours.’ Kim declined.”

Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton said after the leaders had first met in 2018: “Trump thought he had a new best friend.”

SOMEWHERE in my house I have a book titled Editor, written by Max Hastings.

In it he tells the story of his tenure as editor of the Daily Telegraph for something like 16 years. It’s a very good read.

Known as the “Torygraph” the paper is the publication of choice for the old fogeys sitting in their plush leather armchairs in their clubs sipping G&TS.

It must have come as a proverbial kick in the you-know-where to the unionist community when Hastings argued Brexit has forged “a template” for minorities to assert themselves, and suggesting it means Northern Ireland and Scotland are destined to leave the UK.

With its orange and black stripes, you might think the Bengal tiger would stick out like a sore thumb against the green backdrop of central India’s forests.

But when your prey can’t see certain colours, it’s the perfect camouflage.

Sir David explains: “The deer is blind to red and orange, so to the deer the tiger isn’t orange at all. The tiger’s orange coat to them is a muted shade of green, so it’s nearly impossible for the deer to register.”

Some animals have developed camouflages with such perfection that they are virtually invisible against their surroundings.

Using special cameras, the team show what the tiger looks like to the human eye versus what its prey sees.
