Barton to boss Gas

- BY SIMON CASS

JOEY BARTON has vowed to win over the doubters after being confirmed as manager of League One strugglers Bristol Rovers.

Former Fleetwood boss Barton (below), who will be in the Gas dugout for tonight’s relegation clash at home to Wigan, said: “Maybe nothing I can say at the moment will change their mind, but if we go and put a good team together and move the club where we want to move it, naturally they will be more receptive to me.

“Hopefully those Rovers fans will be prepared to give us an opportunity.”
