Bake Off Paul loses a stone with diet of eggs & soup

- BY MARK JEFFERIES

PAUL Hollywood has shed a stone in weight on a diet of soup with bread and boiled eggs and soldiers.

The 55-year-old Bake Off judge piled on the pounds during the first lockdown.

So he cut down on the fatty food and quit booze.

Hollywood said: “I’ve actually lost a stone.

“In fact, just over. I am working out a little bit, doing a bit of walking and running and tinkering... watching what I’m eating.

ALCOHOL

“Every morning I have eggs and I make my own toast. So, it’s eggs and soldiers and in the evening I may have another slice of bread with tomato soup.

“I haven’t had alcohol for about four months.”

Fellow judge Prue Leith added: “I always want to lose a stone. I don’t know a woman who doesn’t, but I never manage it.”

The pair will judge The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer which starts next Tuesday on Channel 4.

Episode one features Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, comedians Rob Beckett and Tom Allen and singer Alexandra Burke.

THE Police Federation plans to start legal action around the suspension of an officer following the arrest of a Troubles survivor after an atrocity commemoration.

One has been suspended from duty and another repositioned after angry scenes unfolded when they approached some of the attendees at an event on the Ormeau Road in Belfast last month.

The officers had attended to highlight potential coronavirus breaches in relation to the size of the gathering.

In a statement, federation chairman Mark Lindsay said it will seek to judicially review the PSNI decision not to lift the suspension of the officer.

He added: “Following due process, the PSNI reviewed what happened and the decision was made not to remove the suspension or the repositioning of a second officer.

“We are now left with no option but to submit Judicial Review pre-action protocol letters to the Chief Constable this week.”

She didn’t collect a Golden Globe, despite being nominated for her role in The Flight Attendant. But as she munched on pizza washed down with champers straight from the bottle – while being surrounded by macaroni cheese, cake and a bottle of Willett bourbon whiskey – Kaley Cuoco was a winner in so many other ways.

“I would like to thank... never mind,” joked Kaley, who lost out to Schitt’s Creek’s Catherine O’hara.

Whoever put on that spread deserves some gratitude.
