THE DIARY MICK’S GOT CATISFACTION

Oscar-nominated film

The Father is a harrowing tale of cognitive degeneration... but Olivia Colman insists it was fun to film.

“I suppose that sounds bonkers,” admits the actress, who stars with

Sir Anthony Hopkins. “I know there’s lots of upsetting pieces in it, but the moment something sad is finished, you have a cup of tea and a cuddle and go, ‘It’s all right.’ You don’t carry on being miserable throughout the day.”

It helped that Sir Anthony regaled her with impressions of Jimmy Stewart and Frank Sinatra.

“I just sat there and I went, ‘Oh, please don’t say that we’re back on set. I’m just loving this so much,’” Olivia tells Entertainment Tonight.

This year’s Baftas are doubling up, with a whole weekend of virtual festivities rather than the usual annual Sunday night ceremony. Eight of the gongs will be handed out on Saturday April 10 in a BBC Two show hosted by Clara Amfo, with the main ceremony taking place the following evening, hosted by Dermot O’leary and Edith Bowman. A further 17 awards, including the EE Rising Star Award, will be given out on the Sunday.

Danny Dyer’s worst DIY disaster was a dire hitch with a wardrobe. The Eastenders star had a right ‘mare assembling the flat-pack furniture. “I once built a wardrobe and built myself into it – I had to smash my way out of the back,” he recalls.

“I built it the wrong way around and I couldn’t get out. I had to smash through the pebble-dashed bit.”

He was “very young”, which goes nowhere near explaining his mishap.

Unlike ol’ snake hips, teeny Nero here is “a little camera shy” according to his owner Mick Jagger.

The cute black kitten was introduced on the Rolling

Stones singer’s social media, prompting son Lucas to pine:

“I miss Gus and Nero.” The rocker’s girlfriend, ballerina

Melanie Hamrick, added:

“Sweet Nero.”

With Charlie Watts & wife Shirley got a French bulldog puppy Honey last summer “just to keep ourselves occupied”, he said. Charlie Watts adopted a greyhound Suzie in May, and while Ronnie Wood’s beagle Dolly has been his family’s canine companion since 2013, she did her bit in lockdown, joining the Birmingham Dogs Home campaign to support strays. They really should have called that campaign Gimme Shelter...
