Hogan: I’ll show he’s just Timid

- BY ROBERT HYNES

DENNIS HOGAN might have been robbed of a world title but he insists it’s all just part of the journey.

The Kildare boxer, who is based in Brisbane, gets back in the ring at the end of the month to face undefeated Australian Tim Tszyu.

The bout comes nearly two years after Hogan should have been crowned the WBO world super welterweight champion after he defeated Mexican Jaime Munguia in the eyes of everyone except the judges at ringside.

But the 36-year-old doesn’t look back in anger.

He said: “It’s all part of the process. I’ve had a goal of being world champion for a very long time. It’s just one of those things that we’ll speak about when I’m world champion. We’ll laugh about it and move on.”

Tszyu is seen as one of Australia’s rising boxing stars having beaten Jeff Horn, who defeated Manny Pacquiao in 2017.

But Hogan feels it was a much different Horn to the one that shocked Pacquiao and he can’t understand why he is such a big price to beat Tszyu, with some firms installing him as the 9/2 outsider.

Hogan said: “I genuinely believe I’m winning this fight every single day of the week. If we were to fight 100 times, I’d win 99 and a half times. It just mystifies me as to how I’d be such a big outsider given everyone I’ve fought and everything else like that.

“Of course he’s had a hot run there, beating Jeff and someone else, but I think we all know it wasn’t the Jeff that beat Manny Pacquiao and even if it was, you have to be confident in your own ability. I can tell you now I’m going to beat him.”
