NUNO: OLYMPICS? RECOVERY ISN’T RAUL DONE YET

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has told Mexico not to jump the gun over Raul Jimenez.

Mexico head coach Gerardo Martino says he is confident he could have Jimenez (top) for this summer’s Olympics.

The 29-year-old is still recovering from the fractured skull he sustained against Arsenal last November, following a sickening clash of heads with David Luiz.

He’s back in non-contact training with Wolves and joined up with his international team-mates last week. Wolves boss

Nuno says he’s confident Jimenez will play again this season – but told Mexico to hang fire.

Nuno (below) said: “I think he must join us first. The moment it is clear he can play for Wolves, then anything can happen. But first, he must play for us. “With all respect to the national team coach, it’s our decision. “I understand he is positive and wants to count on Raul for the Olympics, but we have to be patient. “We have to make the right decisions, can’t afford any kind of mistake, and must respect the doctors. He was delighted to be there, it made sense, they protected him and he’s a more positive person.

“All his Mexican teammates have seen him, asked all the questions, but they saw a good Raul and each day he was better.”

Nuno said midfielder Joao Moutinho is a doubt for Monday night’s game with West Ham, after injuring his knee while on international duty with Portugal.

But keeper Rui Patricio is expected to be fit, after being stretchered off last month with a head injury against Liverpool.
