BIG SAM BEGS FOR SIX OF THE BEST

- SIMON BIRD

SAM ALLARDYCE has warned that West Brom need a six-game winning streak to escape relegation.

And he says he knows it is possible to end the season with title-winning form because he pulled off similar miracles at Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

Albion boss Allardyce (above) hit back at “fake news” pundits who have criticised his side for not being entertaining, citing stats he claims show they now create 40 per cent more chances.

He faces Chelsea today and said: “It is about trying to pull off what has been done before.

“Many managers have done it before, I did it at Sunderland and Crystal Palace, where I have won six out of eight, five out of six or whatever.

“It can be done if the players want to have a real go now. We have to start obviously by creating and converting chances. Outside people say we don’t create enough chances but they are totally wrong.

“Yes we do, but we don’t hit the target and we don’t score.

“Apart from goals scored those areas have increased 35-40 per cent in the last 10 games. The fake news about football is terrifying everyone.

“It doesn’t stop telling you what is necessary, and that is to have the best clean sheet record and to get out of trouble to stop being the worst goals conceded in the Premier League like we were when we got here.

“Our real points figure should be 27 not 18 had we put our chances in.

“We have to keep believing and be more clinical.”

Albion were unbeaten in their last three matches in February, but picked up only one point from their three games last month.
